What is the gallery’s history?
Founded by Caroline St-Pierre and Olivier Mineau, Galerie d’art Berthelet was born in the context of a global pandemic, but this dream did not stop the couple from opening this new cultural venue featuring a collection of modern and unique works of art.
Located in the heart of downtown Berthierville, the gallery aims to revive the vitality of the Place du Marché.
Olivier and Caroline wish to take part in the development of visual arts in Lanaudière with dynamism and innovation.
Why the name Berthelet?
The word Berthelet comes from the establishment formerly called Le Château Berthelet, a hotel located near the North Channel in Lanaudière. Burned down in the late ’70s, this cult place of the region was a place of meetings, shows, and heritage culture. The name Berthelet was the perfect name to revive the desire to share ART.
What is Galerie d’art Berthelet’s mission?
Bringing “art closer to people” is the main mission of the Berthelet Art Gallery. The company wants to be a “flagship” place that brings together all the current needs that an artist wants to develop.
The values of the company are proximity, innovation, and quality. These are three important elements for each of the artworks represented by the gallery.
The Berthelet Art Gallery offers a wide range of services to promote the Visual Arts from here and elsewhere with a unique and passionate service.

It is possible to buy all your favorites on-site or online.
How does shipping work for prints?
We offer the option to ship your prints directly to your home or you can pick it up at the gallery.
What is the difference between each printing support?
The selection of printing support has been carefully selected and of very high quality. The majority of our printing supports are ISO9706, that is to stay in conformity with the museums. The finishes are very different from one to another, from matte to glossy, from smooth to textured, and from paper to canvas.
Is there a minimum quantity I have to order?
There is no minimum order quantity for ordering prints.
How long will it take for my order to be shipped or ready for pickup?
Once our team has verified your file, your project will be completed in approximately 4-5 business days.
If you have a tighter deadline, you can let us know and we will do our best to get your project to you as soon as possible.
Are there different print sizes available?
The print sizes are different from project to project. The quality of the scan will dictate the maximum sizes.
How do I send my file?

We recommend saving your files in Adobe RGB mode, in the format; TIFF.

The best format to provide us is TIFF.

What is the best resolution to ask for?
For inkjet printing, a resolution of 200 dpi is recommended, at 300 dpi the printing is optimal.
What is the maximum size for inkjet printing?
We can print up to 44″ wide if the chosen media size allows it and we have no limit in length.
Do the prints lose quality over time?
We use pigment inks, designed to be very durable. The longevity of the colors and the paper will depend on the framing and the place of hanging.
I want to have an artwork digitized but do not want a print, is this possible?
It is indeed possible to have a work digitized without having it printed. The digital file will then be returned to you.
If I want an artwork digitized, what should I do?
You can make an appointment with us or drop off your artwork during our opening hours. It will take about 4-5 days before you can come and collect your artwork and digital file.
What is the resolution of your scanned artwork?
Our scans are made using a 240 Megapixel camera. This gives a very great definition of details for your work.
What is the maximum size of an artwork that you can digitize?
There is no size limit.
What do I need to provide in order to apply as an artist?
We need your biography, an artistic process that briefly summarizes your work, your curriculum vitae, preferably related to your artistic background, as well as good resolution photos of your latest creations.
Do the artists sign a non-competition contract?
The gallery favors the development of the artist, the artist has the possibility of exhibiting everywhere and this, without territory restriction.
Is it possible to rent the gallery to exhibit my works?
It is possible to rent our spaces for a temporary exhibition. We offer a support service that meets your needs.
I have submitted my work as an artist, what's the next step?
Our team will study your artistic file with care. We will contact you if your application is successful.
Why are my works not selected for an appeal?
At this moment, we are only working with a limited number of artists.
What are the selection criteria for an artwork?
The technical quality of the artwork is paramount, the finish of the renderings and the work must follow a consistency directly related to your artistic approach.
How do I get a section dedicated to my name on your site?
To have a section dedicated to your work, you must submit your file in the “Application call” section of our website.
How does shipping work?
When you choose the shipping option, your purchase will be shipped directly to the address you specify.
Can I pick up my artwork at the gallery?
When you purchase artwork online, you have the option of picking it up at the gallery or having it shipped directly to your home.
Do you offer worldwide shipping?
We ship anywhere in the world. Please note that there is a delay for customs when exporting outside of Canada.
How do you calculate the shipping costs?
Shipping costs are calculated in real-time according to our designated shipper. The size, weight, and location of the shipment will affect the delivery cost.
My work arrived in the mail damaged, what can I do?
Inform us as soon as possible of any shortage or breakage at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 1-450-803-1752. Shipping order will be sent to you to return the item. An exchange or a refund will be offered.
Which payment methods do you accept?
It is possible to pay by credit card, Apple Pay, Android Pay, Interac transfer, or cash directly on site.

The gallery offers the possibility of paying in several installments, varying from 2 to 6 months depending on the value of the artwork. However, sales by installment must be made at the gallery.
Which shipping company delivers the artwork?
We work with several shipping companies. The choice of the carrier varies according to the value of the artwork and the location of the shipment.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Items purchased online can be exchanged within 72 hours of receipt. You must contact us immediately by email at email@example.com or by phone at 1-450-803-1752.
Please note that if customs fees were paid upon receipt by the buyer, they will not be eligible for a refund.
The artwork must be returned in perfect condition and in its original packaging (or equivalent packaging).
Artwork returned damaged or soiled by the purchaser will not be accepted for return or refund, as Galerie d’art Berthelet reserves this choice at its sole discretion.
If the purchaser does not wish to replace the work immediately, a gift card or credit note will be issued.
If I order a piece, how long will it take to receive it?
Orders are generally processed and shipped within 48 hours. However, some orders may take longer due to framing, for example. Delivery times vary from location to location.
Is it possible to rent art for my company?

What are the tax advantages of owning art in Quebec and Canada?
The purchase of a work of art will allow you to reduce your taxes:
– The tax depreciation granted represents an eligible expense of 20% of the cost of the work at the federal level (category 8) and 33.33% in Quebec (category 8.1). Also, considering the accelerated depreciatioń allowed by the current rules, an artwork acquired after November 20, 2018 may grant you, during its first year of depreciation, a deduction of 30% of its cost at the federal level and 50% at the Quebec level.
– If instead of selling the artwork, it is donated to a recognized organization, this will allow you to claim a charitable deduction. In addition, if this same work of art qualifies as cultural property, the capital gain following this disposition may be exempt.

What are the different types of publishing?
There are different types of editions using different techniques and materials. Here are the most important ones:

Silk-screen printing: Printing technique that uses stencils between the ink and the support.
